What PubGene does

Connecting up-to-date information on genes and related terms

  1. Query with gene name or keyword;
  2. View "literature networks" showing co-cited genes;
  3. Cross-referencing of genes incorporates synonym list;
  4. Retrieve source abstracts;
  5. Annotate networks with Gene Ontology, Medical Subject Heading or Chemical terms;
  6. Retrieve tables of terms.

Networks connecting genes to each other and related terms are a key concept in PubGene. These are constructed based on co-citation in MEDLINE records or, alternatively, based on sequence similarity. Network visualization provides an easy to navigate overview of "information pathways" from a complex and often fragmented body of knowledge. To get started, query PubGene to generate a network. Click on a gene and the network is redrawn around that gene. Click on an "edge" between genes and a list of articles is presented. You can also annotate networks from the submission menu. To find out more about gene networks and their relevance to understanding biology read our User Guide, visit www.pubgene.com or e-mail our support staff at mail@pubgene.com.
